ZANA COSMETICS

This line is about a year old, I had the great opportunity to work with them and become a rep while I was in California. I have been to the main office where everything is shipped from and where they often hold great events to market the makeup! Surprisingly I actually do like the makeup a lot and have been using it ever since. Because it is a new line there is not a ton to choose from, but what they do have is great and cover the necessities of everyday makeup. It is parabean free and non-comedigenic which is something everyone is now looking for in makeup these days. I do have oily skin but sometimes like a full coverage and with this foundation I can get it without it suffocating my skin, I love the blushes and the lip glosses. The line can only be purchased by a makeup rep and that is something I can do for you! Please take a look at the site and feel free to email me with any questions :) klanders8@yahoo.com . HAIR OR MAKEUP

Lately I have been getting a lot of questions about my career and what I like doing better, Hair or Makeup ?? Here's the thing, the salons I keep getting myself into are so far from what I like as a stylist, meaning that it's not the type of cliental that I like, it's very simple hair, typical foil nothing dramatic not a lot of maintenance just simple and pretty, Boston is very conservative and these women do not have a lot of time to get ready for the day so they need something that looks good but they don't want to spend a lot of time on it,which is totally fine, I do what they ask for and I am happy to give them what they want, but at the same time all the creative energy I have brewing in my head quickly goes out the door with every simple style that I do. If it wasn't the "norm" to get our hair cut or colored I'm sure most people would not even do it. People get haircuts because it's part of a routine and they have to or else it starts to look bad and at that point it "NEEDS" to be done not really "WANTS" to be done, and women who get their hair colored also get it done because partially it "NEEDS" to be colored because there is gray and no one wants to be gray. I hear a lot of women say I don't want to deal with the up keep, I don't want to commit,I don't have the time BUT women or girls who wear makeup wear it because they WANT to and they enjoy it and it is fun for them, it's not something that wears off in a few months and needs to be re applied or touched up, there is NO commitment to wearing makeup, only the one you create. Women and girls who wear makeup actually enjoy it and for some its a girly pretty fun thing to do, for others who are on camera or who work face to face with people like myself it can really make your features look amazing. Having great looking skin makes you feel great on the inside as well and having great hair it goes hand in hand but people generally only enjoy one or the other. For me it's a total package I do not want to look like barbie or someone that I am not but I do know that when I am well dressed, my hair looks great and my makeup is looking great, I on the inside feel my best and that shows on the outside as well, making you more confidant in who you are! So I guess my answer is makeup only because it's something that most really love to do because they like to wear it an want to not because it has to be done!

NEVER TOO MUCH MAKEUP

I thought of this new post after reading LIPSTICK RULES blog about neglecting her lipsticks lol. I have soo much makeup for just one person and I too do the same. I forget about half the makeup I have and keep buying more and new and anything exciting and bright and forget that I actually have double the makeup I really do, as does everyone else. There are sooooo many color combos you can make it's not even funny, It's amazing actually and very exciting to mix and create new colors, some of the best shades happen when your using 5 shadows on one eye, but the trick unless your going for an extravagant look is to not make it look like there are 5 shadows on one eye lol. There have been so many collections that I have missed out on simply because I do not want to not use it, but in the end if you love make up like I do then you can NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH MAKEUP!!!

IMATS PASADENA

I am back home from my first trip to the International Makeup Artist Trade Show, unfortunately I did not get to see any of the speakers or go to any of the classes as my boyfriend was the one to come with me and I did not want to bore him to death. hhaha but I hope to be living in LA as of this January and will attend next years show.

For my first show I was like a kid in a candy store on christmas morning! I wanted to be everywhere at once and take the whole convention home with me!! I felt like i needed to buy everything at the show, which anyone who loves makeup would easily be able to do the same, but there were a few things I had in mind that I wanted to get. Including palettes from Auraline Beauty http://www.auralinebeauty.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1
which I love and I'm so happy to have them, ( concealer, cream to powder foundation).
I got tons of info on makeup schools which I hope to attend next year. I also got the shimmery 88 palette and I am super excited to use, I have to say thanks to the girl who was shopping next to me who talked me into getting it because it was so great.!!

Overall I enjoyed my first show and hope to attend more as my career develops.!
I just seen on another blog that marlena was at the show and I wish I could have met her, she is amazing at what she does. But I did get to see maxi which was pretty cool!

I also which I felt bad I kind of attacked him but I was so excited was petrilude from you tube

makeup at a young age

A Rainbow of Eye ShadowsImage by cybertoad via Flickr

I am only 25 and growing up I loved to watch my mom put on her makeup. This was during the 80s so there was nothing but pink lipstick blue eyeshadow some pink blush and black mascara. I loved anything where I could use my imagination and be creative at a young age and as I got older I used my craft to become a hairstylist and a makeup artist. 15 years later makeup has evolved into a world of it's own with many more options than your 80s makeup! As I got older I started experimenting with makeup on my own, finding my own little tricks and techniques and I loved what you could do with makeup, very simple or dramatic as can be. It's a great talent to have and a great form of expression!!
