SKINDINAVIA NO MORE SHINE

I heard of this product from doing one of my many searches online for new products, I seen it on a youtube video found here: www.youtube.com/user/xsparkage she has some great videos! I am in the salon during the week and it can get very very hot in there, also our ventillation is awful so within a few clients I am automatically very shiny and my makeup is melting off my skin, I do have oily skin as well so the combination is awful, as a hairstylist and makeup artist I do not look very attractive lol or put together once my makeup is smearing off my skin, so I am up to try anything that says no more shine!

Well here is my review: Once I finish my morning skin prep, I spray the No more shine about 4 time onto my face and let it dry for a minute before applying my makeup, a few hours into my work day and a couple blowdrys later my makeup is still in place but like i said I do have oily skin so some shine does come through but it is no where near what it was before, I wish I found this in the begining of the summer time because it was super hot here in Boston. So I am happy to say that I do like this product a lot, it's light, does not bother my skin and it does keep everything in it's place, I cannot wait to use their other products for photo shoots and up comming weddings. http://www.skindinavia.com/

HAIR OR MAKEUP

Lately I have been getting a lot of questions about my career and what I like doing better, Hair or Makeup ?? Here's the thing, the salons I keep getting myself into are so far from what I like as a stylist, meaning that it's not the type of cliental that I like, it's very simple hair, typical foil nothing dramatic not a lot of maintenance just simple and pretty, Boston is very conservative and these women do not have a lot of time to get ready for the day so they need something that looks good but they don't want to spend a lot of time on it,which is totally fine, I do what they ask for and I am happy to give them what they want, but at the same time all the creative energy I have brewing in my head quickly goes out the door with every simple style that I do. If it wasn't the "norm" to get our hair cut or colored I'm sure most people would not even do it. People get haircuts because it's part of a routine and they have to or else it starts to look bad and at that point it "NEEDS" to be done not really "WANTS" to be done, and women who get their hair colored also get it done because partially it "NEEDS" to be colored because there is gray and no one wants to be gray. I hear a lot of women say I don't want to deal with the up keep, I don't want to commit,I don't have the time BUT women or girls who wear makeup wear it because they WANT to and they enjoy it and it is fun for them, it's not something that wears off in a few months and needs to be re applied or touched up, there is NO commitment to wearing makeup, only the one you create. Women and girls who wear makeup actually enjoy it and for some its a girly pretty fun thing to do, for others who are on camera or who work face to face with people like myself it can really make your features look amazing. Having great looking skin makes you feel great on the inside as well and having great hair it goes hand in hand but people generally only enjoy one or the other. For me it's a total package I do not want to look like barbie or someone that I am not but I do know that when I am well dressed, my hair looks great and my makeup is looking great, I on the inside feel my best and that shows on the outside as well, making you more confidant in who you are! So I guess my answer is makeup only because it's something that most really love to do because they like to wear it an want to not because it has to be done!

THANKS TO ALL THE MAKEUP ARTISTS

I just want to say a very special thanks to all the makeup artists out there that I follow and that follow me and to all the you tube videos I watch for hours on end that teach me so many new things! I am only 27 year old and have loved makeup since I was a little girl. I would consider myself a professional mua as about 4 years ago. I have been doing makeup on myself for a very long time but doing it on yourself and doing it on other people is such a different thing and I never really knew if I would get use to it. As years went on and I graduated cosmetology school and started becoming an actual professional if was very difficult because I was so young, starting a career at 18 wasn't easy, so I took a year r so off and got started again in my twenties, it's been about 7 yrs now and 4 in makeup and I have learned sooooo much from everyone on these sites and blogs and you tube videos it's amazing the amount of talent that is out there, I wish I could meet everyone and work with all of you on a daily basis. I get so much inspiration from everyone that it really keeps me going as an artist and I couldn't be more happy to know that there are so many girls out there that love makeup just as much as I do and love to share their creativity with the world ! So I thank you all for everything you have taught me and I am happy to share what I have learned to the people I work with!

TEEN MAKEUP AND SKIN CARE

It wasn't too long ago that I was a teen myself. This August I will be turning 27 and it is sort of a scary yet exciting feeling. I have learned so much about hair, skin care and makeup since my teen days and now things are so much easier to access information about beauty world through countless books, online forums, blog sites and even you tube has become a huge outlet for education on makeup applications!. One thing I can say for the teens out there who have trouble with acne like I did, I know how you feel. As a teen with acne, you want to disappear into the background and smother your skin with as much makeup you can to cover it all. I once used an Almay foundation that was sooo heavy I might as well just put the whole bottle on my face lol. At the time I didn't know much about makeup and how to cover acne and blemishes or how to reduce redness, the only thing I knew really was to not pick at it because it will make it worse. Now I can say to all the teens facing the same problem as I did that there are so many options out there it can be overwhelming. It really is a trial and error process to find the right skin care product for you but if your acne really is a big problem whatever you do do not use the heaviest foundation out there. You already have oily skin so you do not want to smother it with and oil based foundation, always make sure it is water based if you are using a foundation. Another good makeup to use which is what I currently am using myself is a medium to full coverage powder from AVEDA, It gives you the coverage you need and you do not feel like you have a face full of heavy makeup, you look smooth and matte and feel confidant that your acne is toned down but you will not look like you are wearing heavy makeup. Another thing I learned was about tanning, I had tanned for many many years to help my acne and as it did I was told a few months ago that because it is drying out your skin it is also setting the scars in your skin and that you cannot undo, luckily I have only very very little scaring but I still always hated it and felt horrible about it. So just remember water based foundation, powders are great too! NO over doing the tan and always wash your face before bed so you do not clog your pores while sleeping.
